Natter 0.0.1.1 released!

First of all: A happy new year to everyone!

But now to more important things: A new version of Natter has been released today! It is rather a bug-fix-version and in deed there is only one (!) bug fixed, however: A somehow important one. When playing with more than one human players it can happen that after a game multiple players are asked to enter their name, which is realized in the new version. In fact: There was only one line of code missing - a typical "I know I forgot something..." bug.

Merry Christmas!

Again, a year is going to end soon. But before we celebrate the end of 2008, I hope we all will have a peaceful and happy Christmas. We also want to use this opportunity to say "Thank you!" to everyone who helped us since the foundation of RPdev.

Before we enjoy our holidays, we want to announce two projects here:

The first is Natter, a 2D arcade game in the spirit of Snake. The game is currently available as pre-compiled binary for Windows and Linux systems in 32bit and also as source code.

Download centre is now available

Since today, we are using a download centre to provide our games and other stuff (mainly development related).

You can find the Download Centre at http://www.rpdev.net/downloads

Our website has already been updated, so that the links in the articles point to the centre. The centre allows you also to rate the downloads, so feel free to give us feedback this way.

Beneath, the centre makes file management much easier for us and also enables us, to make sure that you can agree to the licenses before downloading.

New theme available

After last weeks update to a new Drupal release, I decided to change the theme we used a bit. Previously we used one of Drupals core themes ("Garland", with a green color scheme).

The new theme is also based on Garland, however, with a own color scheme (which resembles our logo much better) and some new or customized graphics.

We hope, you like the new theme. It is the default one now (so if you visit the site as a guest, you'll only see the new theme). If you prefer the old one, you can log in and change the theme in your account preferences.

Have a lot of fun!

Tutorial: Isometric Tiles

A new Tutorial is out. It´ll explain some ideas how to create a cool map with an isometric view. It can make your game much more interesting, if you use such maps. So come in and find out.

But please note that the Tutorial is completly written in german.
For all who want to read it anyway: here you are

Tutorial: Setting up Free Pascal for cross compiling

Today the first tutorial on our site has been released:

It is about setting up your Free Pascal compiler for cross compiling.
Cross compiling is a neat feature allowing you to compile your project for multiple platforms while only working with one operating system (in the tutorial the case of Linux 64bit is assumed). You see: An interesting topic.

If you want to learn more, start right with the tutorial.
Have a lot of fun!

Legend Wars is accessible again

Wow, it needed longer than I expected, but finally Legend Wars: The Return of the Shadow is accessible again!

When we began our transition from Redaxo to a new CMS, the access to Legend Wars got lost, too. First it looked like the whole thing could be done in one or two days - but no.

RPdev website is online - finally.

Well, this was hard, indeed.
After we decided for another CMS we had some real trouble.

What was it?
I do not want to make the other CMS worse than it is. But there were surely some shortcomings. Its really easy way of management and configuration was surprising. But somehow it refused to let us upload images! Or better: It refused to use them correctly ;-) This is everything else than useful as we really need these images for our articles and so on.

And then?
