Write a wizard that helps the user setting up a new virtual machine.
Some websites provide lists of recommended values e.g. for RAM, emulated machine and so forth for various operating system guests. USe these to provide the user with a wizard which lets him select an operating system and then creates a new virtual machine including the recommended parameters.
